Eagle Scout Service Project

The Eagle Scout Service Project is a big and time-consuming part of the Life-to-Eagle process. Generally, a Scout should plan on the Project process taking at least six months.  Here is a sample timeline with possible steps in the Project process.  If you need help with ideas for a Project, please look here. If you want to work on a project for Kent County Parks, please read this document, too.

Scouts must use the most current Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook in planning and carrying out their Project. Links to the current version of the Workbook for both PC and Mac users are available here. Please note that the Workbook requires Adobe Reader 9 or later.

The Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook has three parts. The first part is the Project Proposal, which must be approved ahead of time by the Project’s beneficiary and Council’s Project Proposal Review Board. Here is an overview of what to expect when a Scout meets with the Review Board to present a Project Proposal. To help Scouts complete the Project Proposal, here are some helpful hints and notes.

As a Scout plans a Project and prepares a Project Proposal, the Scout also should consider the following helpful resources from the Boy Scouts of America:

Guide to Safe Scouting

Age Guidelines for Tool Use and Work at Elevations or Excavations

The Sweet Sixteen of BSA Safety
